In this important year, the focus is set on assisting the students to achieve the best results that they can get in the final National Senior Certificate examinations. Many tertiary visit the campuses at various times through the year to provide valuable enrolment information to prospective students.
To provide a balanced approach, a fun Sports Day is held during the first term. This gives the students an opportunity to get to know each other better and to realize that balance is important in all aspects of their lives. A regional Inter Campus Sports Day is held annually. This event highlights just how competitive our campuses are and campus pride is obvious to competitors and spectators alike.
A traditional Matric dance is held to ensure that the students experience all aspects of the traditional final year of schooling.
Three Parent-Teacher meetings are held during the year – one each term. These give parents and/or guardians the opportunity to discuss their child’s individual results with the various subject teachers in focused one-on-one discussions.
It is vital that students maintain confidence and concentration to ensure that all subjects can be mastered. Abbotts College ensures that you are able to do this with a variety of programmes including revision classes, individual subject ‘clinics’ or extra lessons and personal attention on request.
The year ends with a Matric breakfast, a Valedictory function and an official Awards Function which celebrates the hard work and achievements of the students. These functions all take place just before the Grade 12 students begin their final examinations.
