On Friday, 17 January 2014 the Schools Division of ADvTECH representing CrawfordSchools™, Abbotts College and Trinityhouse, hosted their sixth annual Top Achievers Awards ceremony at the Michelangelo Hotel. This prestigious ceremony was held to celebrate and recognise the dedicated efforts and hard work of their top Matric students of 2013.
The Award winners from their respective schools received prizes from sponsors, which included ABSA, Casio, Converse, Astek, Qatar Airways and Think Ahead Education Solutions. Each student received: a 1 terabyte external hard drive from Astek to the value of R900, a watch from Casio to the value of R1 500, a cheque from ABSA for R1 000, 16 gigabyte Wi-Fi and 4G enabled Apple iPad Mini to the value of
R5 300 sponsored by Think Ahead Education Solutions and ADvTECH, laptop bags from Converse, as well as a crystal trophy and a certificate.
A special award was presented to Stephen Slabbert from Crawford College Pretoria. Stephen achieved 11 distinctions in the National Senior Certificate. He was a recipient of all the sponsor prizes as well as a cheque for R10 000 from ADvTECH.
The top three students across the ADvTECH Schools Division were: Rahist Dusruth from Crawford College La Lucia. Dusruth received all the sponsored prizes, two return airfares on Qatar Airways as well as a cheque from ADvTECH to the value of R20 000. Tashiq Rajdev from Crawford College La Lucia and Akshay Soni from Crawford College North Coast shared the second place and were recipients of all the sponsor prizes as well as a cheque for R15 000 each from ADvTECH.
Mr Enver Surty, Deputy Minister of Basic Education, congratulated the Matriculatants on their excellent achievements. “We acknowledge the learners perseverance, resilience and dedication to succeed. Congratulations on your remarkable achievements for 2013”.
Dedicated teaching staff and the determination of students resulted in excellent results for the ADvTECH Schools Division. The 1,344 candidates from the ADvTECH Schools Division that wrote the 2013 matric examinations achieved extraordinary results and collectively, achieved 2,895 distinctions with an average of 2.15 distinctions per candidate.

ADvTECH was also joined by Panyaza Lesufi special advisor and spokesperson for the Minister of Basic Education and Raymond Martin, Director for the Johannesburg East District of the GDE as well as members of the EXCO of ADvTECH to recognise these student’s achievements together with parents and other guests.
