I am a Parent

Are you a Parent?

How can we help you?

Worried about your child’s results?

  • Abbotts is an environment that is structured to get the very best academic achievements from all our students.

Perhaps your child does not enjoy traditional lectures, or they may have an active and enquiring mind that craves greater discussion and stimulation.

They might struggle to make themselves heard in a big class full of dominant personalities, or they may in the past have had a tough time ‘fitting in’.

    Practical help

    • All students have access to teachers after hours. We believe that it’s really OK to ask – it shows us students are interested.

    • Supported homework sessions. Our students work independently – but in a supported environment at an allocated time – so it is not left to them to self-manage when to get work done. Additionally, they can access assistance at all times.

    • All students have an allocated mentor to offer guidance – when they ask for it, or when we observe that they require additional support.

A happy learner is a successful learner

    • Self-expression is not an issue. We are interested only in academics and self-actualisation.

    • Students are respected and encouraged at all times, and never judged.

    Confidence is power

    • With the right support system, you will see how your child’s results will improve, and with that comes confidence. This allows your child to truly fulfil their potential.

Worried about their happiness?

  • Abbotts is a structured environment where any individual can develop their strengths and interests to achieve academically.

    Focus on their strengths

    • Your child can choose from a broad range of subjects and we won’t force them to take subjects that aren’t in their best interest.

    • We don’t force them into the ‘agenda’ of the school. We don’t prescribe sports – unless they enjoy them and it adds to their wellbeing. Although we do not offer sport, we encourage students to take part in club sports.

    • No one will judge them for not being good at everything. Fish swim brilliantly – but they are terrible at climbing trees.

    Conquer weaknesses

    • Our class sizes are smaller than traditional schools, providing the opportunity for dedicated and focused learning with individual dialogue and answers to questions.

    • Frequent assessment lets you see gradual and continued improvement. Encouragement and positive reinforcement is our recipe for success. With regular report back 7 times a year, you and your child will have a good idea of the progress being made.

    • Our regular reports also allows us to identify any challenges timeously, and to address them before they escalate or compound.

    Let them be proud

    • We do not compare our students to each other. Their academic growth is a personal journey to become the best they can be.

    • We urge students to take satisfaction in what they are achieving and embrace and build upon the improvements they can see.

    • The sky is the limit when they have the right support structure for their individual needs.

Feeling that they are not getting the right guidance?

  • Abbotts is not just the place for helping students who are struggling with basic core subjects.

    • Your child may have a perfectly adequate matric result projection – but you know they can perform better given the right environment and more direction.

    • Or they might want to get into a specific course at a specific higher education institution that is highly competitive and requires personalised coaching to make the cut.

    Their life. Their choices.

    • Our structured learning methods will ensure your child does the very best they can. They can then choose their goals and desired outcomes and build towards them from the solid foundation enabled by Abbotts.

    • We are structured around the needs of students.

    Empowered

    • The feeling of being in control of your own destiny is an empowering one!

    • With choice comes responsibility and with responsibility comes a sense of self and an understanding of where the buck stops - a key life lesson.

Want to ensure a better future for them?

  • The marks your child achieves presently, does not reflect on their ability to achieve greater academic excellence in future.

Our tools and methodology have been proven time and time again. We get results. Given the right direction, with your child’s commitment and our support, they can improve significantly on their current trajectory towards Matric and their future opportunities.

    • Our tools and methodology have been consistently proven to get results.

    • With the right direction and commitment your child’s performance and potential will improve significantly.

    Better grades

    • Our supervised homework sessions, extra lessons, and frequent assessments mean we can guarantee academic improvement. As a result, students will be able to access opportunities to further their education or qualify for a better starting position when they leave us.

    One-on-one support, mentoring and motivation

    • The entire Abbotts learning experience is geared to be altogether more positive, rewarding, and motivating than traditional ‘one-size-fits-all’ models of teaching. Your child will be allocated a personal mentor to guide, assist, and support them on their journey to success. These personal relationships become important to our students and many Abbotts alumni remain friends with their mentors after leaving school.”

Help them compete on an equal playing field

    • Better results mean students have an equal chance compared to students who find traditional study a breeze. They can compete for the roles and university places you may never have considered possible.

    • In addition, if they are determined to study in highly competitive fields such as medicine or law, or even to study abroad, we can help them get closer to their goal.

    • For us it is always about helping them reach their personal level of academic success – regardless of where they start when joining us, or their reasons for doing so.

Want to capitalise on their strengths?

  • Abbotts is not only for those needing extra help

Abbotts provides an opportunity for significant growth in a dedicated area because of our subject flexibility and focused tuition methods.

    Focused development

Supervised homework and regular assessment mean we can constantly monitor our jointly agreed strategy for their progress.

    Channel their passion

Everyone performs better when they are enjoying what they are doing. The feeling of success and seeing results is a virtuous cycle and with confidence and pride comes the drive to attain the same in other areas of study. A win-win.

Help them excel in what they love

Let them be the best at what they love most and watch them lead by example in their field of choice. Studying the Abbotts way means they really can have what they want most – if they want it enough.

Want to see their true potential realised?

  • Abbotts is not just for students who are struggling to achieve Matric.

Abbotts also gives hundreds of students a second chance every year to improve upon their original Matric. We have many part-time Grade 12 students who seek to fine-tune their results and broaden their opportunities.

Give them a sense of pride in being able to be their best selves

Why settle for making sure your child merely ‘gets by’, when with the right strategy and targeted mentorship your child can succeed and excel at what is most important to them and their specific ambitions.

    Nothing is impossible

Year after year, our Matriculants graduate with results they never imagined possible. Give them the chance to believe in themselves and we will help them get there.
